Legal Mentions

Rerum NovAIrum is an independent, international, and ecumenical initiative whose motto is "To serve without enslaving." It brings together a collective of entrepreneurs, leaders, theologians and researchers around the conviction that Christian social thought, and in particular the Catholic Social Doctrine, offers a demanding framework for discerning the uses of artificial intelligence. The initiative was founded by Etienne de Rocquigny and Augustin Destremau.

BLAISE SARL (legal name: Aremus Création & Développement, SIREN 788 880 763), originally created in 2012 and co-owned with Augustin Destremau since 2025, is the founding patron and the operator of the professional and commercial deployment of the initiative. It owns the domain name, develops and owns the digital tools and professional facilitation methods, and ensures the operational secretariat of the initiative.

The associative partners include Espérance & Algorithmes, UNIAPAC, Les EDC, UCID, The Acton Institute, and NHNAI. They relay events, deploy training programs, and enrich the common content within their own contexts.

Rerum NovAIrum does not possess a legal personality of its own. It exists through its productions, its partners and the conventions that bind them. No actor can claim exclusive ownership over the initiative or its common productions.

The rerum-novairum.org domain name and the Rerum Novairum name, protected contractually through bilateral conventions, are held by BLAISE SARL. This holding carries an obligation to manage these assets in the collective interest of the initiative, and not solely in the interest of BLAISE SARL.

Unless otherwise stated, all content published on rerum-novairum.org is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY 4.0). Any person or organization may freely consult, share, adapt and exploit the content, including for commercial purposes, under the sole condition of crediting the initiative — in the spirit of the Universal Destination of Goods.

Where a contribution carries identified individual intellectual authorship, the contributor retains full ownership of their copyright. Authors retain their moral rights, and any substantial modification of their work requires their consent.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 18th, 2026

1. Introduction

This privacy policy describes how personal data is collected, used and protected in connection with the Rerum NovAIrum initiative and its digital supports.

The data controller, in the sense of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), is BLAISE SARL, acting in its capacity as the technical operator of all the digital supports of the initiative.

Rerum NovAIrum, as an initiative without legal personality of its own, cannot itself be a data controller. References to Rerum NovAIrum in this policy designate the collective initiative whose digital supports are operated by BLAISE SARL.

2. Distinct Purposes by Support

The purposes of data processing differ depending on which digital support of the initiative is being used.

On the rerum-novairum.org website, processing serves the animation of the community and the publication of the common goods. This includes allowing access to free content and resources, informing users of new publications and events, inviting users to webinars or focus groups, and analyzing the use of the website to improve its relevance and quality.

On the .app platforms operated by BLAISE SARL, in particular rerum-novairum-discern.com, processing serves the improvement of the service and its commercial exploitation. This includes providing access to the discernment paths and associated services, personalizing the experience based on the participant's interactions and profile, improving the relevance of the paths through aggregated analysis of usage, and managing the commercial relationship for paid services.

3. Data We Collect

We may collect the following personal data when you interact with us:

  • First name, last name, and email address.
  • Professional information (e.g., job title, organization).
  • Information related to your interests and specific needs.
  • Any other information you choose to provide voluntarily.

On the .app platforms, we also collect usage data: navigation paths, time spent, engagement metrics. These data do not contain substantive content produced by participants. They are the property of BLAISE SARL, are used exclusively to improve the paths, and are neither shared nor published.

4. Three Categories of Contributed Content

When you participate in the initiative, for example by submitting a use case, a testimony, or contributing to a discernment path, your contributions fall into one of three categories. You are informed, at the beginning of a path, of the category applicable to your contributions.

  • Creative Commons (CC BY). Contributions explicitly identified as commons. Freely consultable, shareable, adaptable and exploitable, including for commercial purposes, under the sole condition of attribution. This is the default regime for the productions of the initiative.
  • Shared. Anonymized contributions shared with the collective to enrich the common discernment (aggregated use cases, field feedback). No commercial use without explicit consent.
  • Private. Contributions falling under the business secret of client organizations (individual discernment paths, company data). Never shared.

Where a contribution carries identified individual intellectual authorship, the contributor retains full ownership of their copyright. The license granted to the initiative does not constitute a transfer of rights.

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We may share it only in the following cases, after implementing appropriate security measures:

  • Associative Partners. When you register for a path operated jointly with an associative partner (such as Les EDC or UNIAPAC), the necessary data are shared with that partner for the operation of the path, in accordance with the bilateral convention between BLAISE SARL and the partner.
  • Service Providers. For the management of our platform and services, we use technical or administrative providers (hosting, email services, analytics tools). These providers act on our behalf and are bound by strict confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal Authorities. We may be required to disclose your data in the context of a legal obligation or at the request of an administrative or judicial authority.

6. Data Security

BLAISE SARL implements appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for the time necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

8. Your Rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you have several rights regarding your personal data. You may at any time:

  • Access your data: Request to view the personal information we hold about you.
  • Rectify your data: Request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request erasure: Request the deletion of your personal data (right to be forgotten), including full erasure on demand.
  • Restrict processing: Request the limitation of the processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Object to processing: Object to the processing of your data, particularly for direct marketing purposes.
  • Request portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format, and request its transmission to another data controller.
  • Withdraw your consent: Withdraw consent given for the processing of your data at any time.
